Student Outreach Program
The University of Maiduguri Veterinary Teaching Hospital (UMVTH) is committed to inspiring and supporting the next generation of veterinary professionals through its Student Outreach Program. The programme provides students with opportunities to gain practical exposure to veterinary medicine, animal health management, research, and public health through educational visits, mentorship activities, and interactive learning sessions.
Through collaborations with secondary schools, tertiary institutions, and professional bodies, the programme promotes awareness of veterinary science as a rewarding career while encouraging academic excellence, innovation, and community service. Students are introduced to modern veterinary facilities, diagnostic laboratories, clinical procedures, and animal care practices under the guidance of experienced professionals.
The outreach initiative also seeks to strengthen the relationship between the veterinary profession and the wider community by fostering knowledge sharing, career development, and responsible animal health practices. By investing in student engagement, UMVTH contributes to building a skilled workforce capable of addressing emerging challenges in animal health, food safety, public health, and sustainable livestock development.
