The University of Maiduguri Veterinary Teaching Hospital (UMVTH), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Maiduguri, recognizes that sustainable veterinary healthcare, research excellence, disease control, food security, and livestock development can only be achieved through strong institutional partnerships and collaborative engagements.

Over the years, UMVTH has continued to strengthen relationships with national and international organizations, government agencies, academic institutions, research bodies, development partners, livestock associations, and public health stakeholders committed to advancing animal health and community wellbeing.

These partnerships have contributed significantly to capacity building, veterinary service delivery, disease surveillance, research development, public health interventions, livestock productivity enhancement, and professional training programmes.

International Development Partnerships

UMVTH has collaborated with international organizations involved in livestock development, veterinary public health, humanitarian interventions, food security, and agricultural resilience programmes.

One notable collaboration involved partnership activities with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in supporting veterinary and livestock interventions in Northeast Nigeria. FAO has worked in collaboration with the University of Maiduguri Veterinary Teaching Hospital and the Borno State Department of Veterinary Services in community-based animal healthcare programmes aimed at strengthening livestock health systems, supporting pastoral communities, and enhancing disease prevention efforts.
